Positive Leadership: It Makes a Difference

Many types of research demonstrate the significant and good impact of positive leaders in a work environment.

 

The author mentioned that the key attributes of positive leadership are self-awareness, optimism, and personal integrity. The theories of positive leadership, such as Authentic Leadership Development, Transformational Leadership, Charismatic Leadership, Servant Leadership, and Spiritual Leadership, highlight the role of leaders to enhance positive emotions in their teams.

 

Negative leadership styles are linked to turnover intentions, stress, anxiety, absenteeism, burnout, and retaliatory behaviors, while positive leadership has been shown to correlate with better organizational outcomes like job satisfaction, performance, psychological well-being, and creativity. Leaders set the tone for their teams or organizations. While bad leadership saps and demoralizes workers, positive leadership empowers and energizes them.

 

The article offers guidance on how to communicate with staff members in a constructive manner. The qualities of genuine positive leadership include treating everyone with respect and integrity, finding and sharing humor, focusing on strengths, creating a culture of celebration, advocating for and supporting employees, setting an example, encouraging positive social interactions, sharing inspiration and hope, bringing energy to the workplace, reminding employees of the purpose of their work.

 

Finally, the satisfaction, engagement, and performance of individuals, teams, and organizations have been shown to be positively impacted by positive leadership. It recognizes that keeping a positive outlook can be difficult, especially during trying times, but it emphasizes the value of commitment, perseverance, and constant attention for leaders to be cheery, enthusiastic, and motivating in their interactions with staff. To improve workplaces for everyone, developing good leadership skills is a goal that can be attained by anybody.

 

 

Opinion

 

I could not agree more with this article because I believe that one of the most important skills for a leader is to be positive this attitude is contagious and also is a source of inspiration for the team members. I remember when I entered my first job after I finished my studies at the university. The manager exemplified a positive leadership style seeing the glass as half full rather than half empty I learned many things from him that define me nowadays as a leader.
